Position overview

In this newly created role, the Senior Manager, Work Health and Safety reports to the Deputy Chief People Officer (Safety and Wellbeing) and is a key member of the leadership within this team. Located within the University People and Culture Division, the Safety and Wellbeing Group are responsible for strategic health and safety advice, administration of the health and safety management system, injury prevention and management services and maintaining the University’s self insurance.   

The role is responsible for leading and managing the newly formed centralised WHS Operations teams and will have significant influence over future WHS service delivery to the University. The position will provide strategic and expert advice to effectively develop and implement these services and drive a proactive risk management and positive safety culture across the University.

Our ideal candidate
We are looking for a candidate that has previous experience in the design, development and delivery of WHS Management Systems and WHS service delivery at an organisational level. In addition, we are seeking a candidate with a strong background in risk management and the design, delivery and evaluation of organisational risk frameworks.  

You will be a strong leader and collaborator with excellent communication skills and the ability to relay complex and detailed information in a simple and concise manner. You will be a stellar project manager with the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously. You will be strategic and results driven, with effective partnership skills and the ability to influence at all levels, including HR colleagues and senior leaders.
