Salary package: $159,145 per annum plus 17% superannuation

The Position Operating under broad strategic direction, the Senior Manager, Horizon Europe Strategic Partnerships is responsible for leading ANU's engagement with the European Union's Horizon Europe Program and advancing the University's strategic international research partnerships. The role provides institutional leadership for the identification, development and coordination of major international research collaborations, with a particular focus on Horizon Europe Pillar II opportunities and the establishment of high-impact, multi-partner research consortia. The position leads a specialist team within the Strategic Partnerships function and works closely with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), College Deans, School and Institute Directors, Associate Deans (Research), and professional staff across the University.
The role is responsible for identifying and pursuing strategic funding opportunities, building relationships with leading international universities, research organisations, government agencies, industry partners and funding bodies, and supporting ANU researchers to secure and lead major international collaborative research programs. The Senior Manager will provide high-level strategic advice on international research funding opportunities, partnership development and consortium-building activities, while representing ANU in national and international forums. The role will also oversee business development activities, stakeholder engagement, governance processes and performance monitoring to strengthen ANU's international research profile and increase participation and success in Horizon Europe and related international funding programs.
The Person You are a strategic and outcomes-focused leader with extensive experience in research management, business development, international partnerships or a related field within a complex organisational environment. You have demonstrated success in developing and managing high-value partnerships, identifying strategic opportunities and navigating complex stakeholder environments. You bring strong leadership, relationship management and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and engage senior executives, academic leaders, researchers, government representatives, industry partners and international collaborators.
You have experience leading multidisciplinary initiatives and are capable of managing competing priorities while delivering results in a dynamic environment. Your well-developed analytical and strategic thinking skills enable you to identify emerging opportunities, develop innovative approaches to partnership development and provide trusted advice to senior decision-makers. Experience working with international research funding programs, collaborative research initiatives or large-scale consortium development will be highly regarded. You are an excellent communicator with the ability to build productive relationships across organisational and cultural boundaries and to represent the University with credibility and professionalism in national and international settings.
