This position is continuing (contingent funded). The funding that supports this project has an expected end date of 31 October 2025.

The Position

This role is integral to the delivery/support of (a foundational research project fully funded by the Rio Tinto Centre for Future Materials (CFFM). The Centre will develop the fundamental knowledge to transform how materials critical for the energy transition are produced, used and recycled. CFFM is led by Imperial College London with 4 global university partners including Berkeley, UBC Vancouver, University of Witwaterstrand and the ANU.

The Research Fellow will contribute to a project on knowledge mapping by conducting a systematic review and synthesis of literature dealing with the socio-ecological, political and economic issues related to copper mining, production and supply. They will be supervised by Dr Rini Astuti (CPAS) and A/Prof Nick Bainton (School of Regulation & Global Governance), working as part of a larger team of researchers spanning the social and physical sciences from all 5 university partners. They will have the exciting opportunity to contribute to the larger Centre team discussions.

The Person

We are looking for a strong team player with excellent interpersonal and research skills, the ability to work independently on high-quality research in collaboration with team leads and the capacity to quickly develop productive, professional relationships with colleagues and external partners. Highly developed research and organisational skills and effective self-management are key.
