Salary package: $81,296 - $87,954 per annum plus 17% superannuation
Terms: Part-time (17.5 hours per week, 0.5 FTE), Fixed-term (until March 2028)

The Position

We are seeking a Research Assistant to work on two ARC funded projects: DE260100075 Model Minorities: Racial Targeting and Discrimination in the Platform Era and DP250102499 The Australian Experience of Automated Advertising on Digital Platforms, led by Dr Thao Phan in the School of Sociology. The Research Assistant will provide support in data collection activities and general administrative support for both projects, including conducting advertiser platform walkthroughs, recruitment and organisation of data donation workshops and co-analysis interviews, and event organisation.

The Person

The Research Assistant is expected to work within the School of Sociology at ANU and will be directly supervised by Dr Thao Phan. They should be recently completed/about to complete a PhD and have expertise in on or more of the following areas: media and cultural studies, STS, logistics and digital markets, algorithmic culture.   

The College/Division

The ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) is one of seven Colleges at ANU. The College, which is structured into two main research schools, offers degrees in more than 20 discipline areas and excels in research across the creative arts, humanities and social sciences. The College has a substantial international research presence and is a major source of national policy advice.
