Position overview
The Student Education Support team contributes to the University's strategic objective to provide an excellent educational experience for its students through the delivery of accessible, consistent and high-quality administrative support throughout the student lifecycle.
The Senior Student Education Advisor plays a key role in providing specialist advice and managing complex student administration matters across the student lifecycle. Working within Student Education Support, the position provides senior operational expertise across student progression, assessment, compliance and other complex student education matters.
Working under broad direction, the position independently manages complex, sensitive and escalated student cases requiring the interpretation and application of University policy, procedure and regulatory requirements. The role exercises judgement in determining appropriate administrative pathways and works closely with academic and professional staff across Colleges, Schools and central University areas to resolve matters and achieve timely, consistent and student-centred outcomes.
The role provides senior specialist advice to students, academic staff and professional colleagues on matters including enrolment and progression, assessment and examination processes, Extenuating Circumstances Applications, deferred examinations, late withdrawals, program and course changes, academic progress and other complex student administration matters. The position also supports compliance with relevant University policies and regulatory frameworks, including ESOS requirements, and contributes to processes associated with student eligibility for awards and graduation.
The Senior Student Education Advisor acts as an escalation point for complex matters and provides guidance and specialist support to other members of Student Education Support. The position contributes to quality assurance and consistency in the application of policy and procedure, identifies emerging or systemic issues, and supports the development and continuous improvement of student administration processes, guidance and practices.
The successful candidate will bring substantial experience working in a complex administrative environment and demonstrated ability to independently manage sensitive and complex matters requiring judgement, analysis and interpretation of policy and procedure. You will have strong organisational and analytical skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and high volumes of work while maintaining accuracy and sound decision-making.
You will have demonstrated ability to provide authoritative and practical advice, resolve complex issues and communicate decisions clearly and sensitively. Strong interpersonal and stakeholder-management skills are essential, together with the ability to build effective relationships with senior academic and professional staff and work collaboratively across organisational boundaries.
You will also demonstrate the capacity to support and guide colleagues, contribute to quality assurance and continuous improvement, and identify opportunities to strengthen the consistency and effectiveness of student administration practices. Strong digital literacy and a commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion are essential. Experience in higher education or complex student administration will be highly regarded.
Student Education Support sits within Student Engagement and Education Management (SEEM) and provides specialist administrative support to students and academic staff across a broad range of programs and student matters. The team plays a critical role in supporting students throughout their academic journey, from enrolment and progression through to completion and graduation, while ensuring the consistent application of University policy and compliance with relevant regulatory requirements.
