The Position
The Rural Administration Officer is a casual role within the Rural Clinical School (RCS), based in Bega, NSW, providing essential administrative support to education and operational activities during a period of increased workload. The position reports to the RCS Manager and works closely with academic and professional staff to support the effective delivery of rural medical education programs.
The role is responsible for a range of administrative functions, including supporting student and education administration processes, coordinating routine operational tasks, maintaining accurate records, and providing responsive support to staff and stakeholders. The position contributes to the smooth operation of rural campuses by ensuring day‑to‑day administrative activities are managed efficiently and in accordance with University policies and procedures.
The Person
The ideal candidate is a capable and motivated administrative professional with experience supporting education or service‑based environments and the ability to work effectively in a regional setting. They will demonstrate strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the capacity to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced workplace.
The successful applicant will have well‑developed communication and interpersonal skills, enabling them to provide responsive and professional support to academic staff, professional colleagues, students, and external stakeholders. They will be comfortable working both independently and as part of a small, collaborative team, and demonstrate reliability, initiative, and sound judgement.
A strong commitment to customer service, accuracy, and compliance with University policies and procedures is essential. The role suits someone adaptable, resourceful, and able to quickly familiarise themselves with administrative processes to contribute effectively during a short‑term appointment supporting business continuity.
The School
The Rural Clinical School (RCS) is an integral part of the ANU Medical School and plays a vital role in delivering high‑quality rural medical education across regional New South Wales. The RCS provides immersive clinical training experiences for medical students, supporting the University’s commitment to strengthening the rural and regional medical workforce and improving health outcomes in rural communities.
Operating across multiple rural sites, the RCS works in close partnership with academic staff, health services, clinical educators, and community stakeholders to deliver teaching and learning activities across the Doctor of Medicine and Surgery (MChD) program. The School is characterised by a collaborative, student‑focused culture, with a strong emphasis on service excellence, operational integrity, and continuous improvement in rural education delivery.
The College
The ANU College of Science and Medicine encompasses the disciplines of: Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Earth Sciences, Environment and Society, Mathematics, Physics, and Science Communication and is also home to a number of cross-disciplinary and specialist Institutes and Centres.
