Position overview

We are seeking a Communications and Events Officer to provide support with the daily planning and delivery of various outreach and communication activities for the Indonesia Project. The Communications and Events Officer will report to the Program Manager and work closely with members of the Indonesia Project team, and with staff, students and stakeholders across the broader ‘Indonesianist’ community in Australia and abroad.  In this role, you will coordinate various outreach activities, including the timely organisation, administration and delivery of events, public lectures, workshops and delegation visits, and the escalation of more complex communications enquiries to the Project Manager. You will also assist in the development, implementation and update of the area’s digital communications tools, including website content, social media and other emerging online tools.

The School’s ANU Indonesia Project (the Project) is a major international centre for research and graduate training on the economy and society of Indonesia. The Project monitors and analyses economic development in Indonesia, informs the Australian and Indonesian governments, businesses and the wider community of these developments, and stimulates research on the Indonesian economy. The Project also maintains an extensive network of scholars, senior policy makers and Ministers working on issues related to Indonesia and undertakes several capacity building exercises. Amongst other things, the Project runs over 15 major activities in Australia and Indonesia a year. These include the Indonesia Update Conference, a Research Grant Scheme, a Visitor Program, the Indonesia Study Group, Global Seminar Series, Guest Public Lecture, the Sadli Lecture and the Mubyarto Public Policy Forum.
