Salary package: $75,492 - $90,926 per annum plus 17% superannuation

The Position
This is a key role for an organised technician to work on pivotal projects lead by Professor Penelope King, within the Geochemistry Department of the Research School of Earth Sciences.
The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting to deliver on two grants: Australian Research Council LEIF 22: Integrated volatile-mineral-isotope micro-analysis of Earth environments through sample preparation and analysis; and AuScope Opportunity Fund 3.1503 Novel Hyperspectral Mineral Mapping.
The Technical Officer will prepare, organise and analyse mineral samples, maintain state of the art lab equipment and data systems, undertake administrative duties, and support research and training activities. This is a key role within the King laboratory, and is fundamental to the successful outcomes of the ARC and AuScope Projects.
The Person
We are looking for a technician with experience working in technical laboratory environments. Highly developed organisational skills, experience in quality assurance and WHS, and effective self-management are key.
We are looking for someone who likes challenging problems and has a lifelong learning mindset. We will highly regard demonstrated communication skills with a wide range of stakeholders and experience encouraging colleagues to workshop effective solutions.
Education and/or qualifications in Earth Sciences, Chemistry and/or Physics would be advantageous.
