Position overview

The Work Health and Safety (WHS) Consultant is a key member of the Safety & Wellbeing team within the People & Culture Division. Reporting to the Manager, WHS Operations, the role works collaboratively with Colleges, Research Schools, Portfolios and Service Divisions to strengthen local work health and safety capability and support leaders to effectively manage their work health and safety responsibilities.

Operating within the University's contemporary precinct-based WHS service delivery model, the WHS Consultant works alongside leaders and workers to enable practical work health and safety outcomes through risk management, incident management, consultation, coaching, capability development and continuous improvement. The role supports local areas to identify hazards, implement effective risk controls, coordinate incident management processes and embed practical safety practices that strengthen local ownership and positive safety culture.

Working closely with specialist WHS functions and other professional services, the WHS Consultant provides coaching, facilitation and practical support to help leaders navigate legislative requirements, implement the University's Work Health and Safety Management System and continuously improve local safety performance. Operational responsibility for work health and safety remains with local leaders and work areas.

This is an excellent opportunity for a collaborative WHS professional who enjoys building relationships, influencing positive change and helping others succeed in creating safe, healthy and compliant workplaces.
