Classification: Academic Level A
Salary package: $89,313 - $112,103 per annum plus 17% superannuation
Terms: Full-time, Fixed-Term (up to December 2028)
The Position
The Position supports a National Health and Medical Research Council Ideas Grant that seeks to develop a delivery system for the release of therapeutics in the gut to prevent recurrent urinary tracts infections. The project will involve the functional and structural characterisation of the interactions between the therapeutics and target proteins, as well as the binding affinities of the therapeutics. A key part of the role will be training and mentoring 2-3 Honours and/or PhD students and supervising undergraduate students on related projects.
The Person
Applicants should have demonstrable experience in molecular microbiology and recombinant protein expression and purification. Experience in structural biology methods or complementary skills such as protein biophysics, will be viewed favourably but is not essential. We seek a friendly and self-motivated individual with excellent interpersonal skills who takes initiative and who can work both independently and collaboratively to achieve common goals and solve challenging problems. The successful applicant will work closely with Drs. Leyton and Furlong to ensure that the milestones of the NHMRC-funded project are met.
