Position Overview

This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned communications leader to shape how one of Australia’s leading universities engages with national and international audiences. Joining a collaborative and purpose‑driven portfolio, you’ll enjoy a vibrant campus environment, strong professional development support and the chance to contribute to work that makes a real difference domestically and globally.

About the Role
As the Head of Strategic Communications, you will lead the University’s media engagement, social media and strategic storytelling functions to protect and enhance the ANU reputation. Reporting to the Deputy Director, Engagement, you will guide a high‑performing team, working closely with colleagues across Regulatory Affairs and Engagement - including government relations, internal communications, publications, events and multimedia - alongside senior academic and professional leaders. In this senior role, you will develop and deliver integrated communications strategies, provide expert issues‑management advice, coordinate major corporate announcements and build strong relationships with journalists and external partners. Your leadership will ensure the University maintains a clear, consistent and compelling presence across all channels while supporting the University’s strategic ambitions.
