Position overview

The Business Manager, ANU One is a foundational leadership position, critical in the establishment and continued development of the ANU Pathway programs.

ANU One primarily offers programs that prepare international and domestic students for successful transition into undergraduate and postgraduate coursework programs of study at the University. ANU One may also offer a range of other education programs, targeting different cohorts, in alignment with the University's needs and strategies.

This role combines operational leadership with strategic and senior leadership responsibility. During the establishment phase, the Business Manager will oversee the development of programs, teams, systems and partnerships. As ANU One matures, the role will progressively shift toward a greater focus on strategic leadership, performance oversight and institutional integration, including a high-level responsibility for human resources, legal and compliance, governance and reporting, marketing, IT and facilities.

The Person

You will have demonstrated experience leading complex operational or service delivery functions, ideally in a higher education or similarly complex environment. You will bring strong skills in program and service development, policy and process implementation, risk management, compliance and continuous improvement.

You will be an experienced people leader with the ability to manage competing priorities, resources and multiple administrative functions while maintaining a strong focus on student-centred service delivery. Highly developed communication, relationship-building, negotiation and influencing skills are essential, together with the ability to provide sound advice and exercise judgement on complex and sensitive matters. Knowledge of pathway education models and relevant regulatory, legislative, compliance and quality assurance requirements will be highly regarded.

The School/Department

Student Engagement and Education Management supports the delivery and effective administration of education and student-focused functions within the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Education portfolio. The area works collaboratively across the University to support high-quality education, student engagement and administrative services.

The College/Division

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor Education (DVCE) portfolio supports the University's education strategy, student experience and academic and professional services that enable the delivery of high-quality education.

ANU One is an integrated pathway portfolio supporting students through the successful completion of pathway programs and their transition to The Australian National University. It brings together pathway education and associated student and operational services, working across the University and with external partners to support student participation, success and progression to ANU.
