Position overview

The Campus Environment Division (CE) enables academic excellence at ANU through integrated and innovative facilities and project delivery. Within CE, the Operations Portfolio – Building Operations manages maintenance, cleaning, grounds, and safety initiatives across all campus environments.

The Assistant Facilities Manager – Cross Campus works under the broad direction of the Facilities Manager - Cross Campus to plan and coordinate property services across a designated zone, ensuring buildings are safe, open, and operational. This role involves supervising a small team of technical staff and contractors, managing service delivery outcomes, and implementing processes that support effective and compliant operations.

You will liaise with internal and external stakeholders, coordinate contractors, contribute to policy and budget development, and ensure customer service initiatives are delivered on time. Flexibility and a positive approach to change are essential as the CE team continues to evolve.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications with relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and training
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with experience managing staff and contractors
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare accurate reports and correspondence
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, contracts, and procurement activities effectively
  • Proven ability to plan and prioritise workflow in a dynamic environment, meeting competing deadlines
  • Experience in facilities or property services management within complex environments (higher education experience highly regarded)
