Salary package: $100,847 - $116,083 per annum plus 17% superannuation
Terms: Full-time, Fixed term (until 11th August 2027)

The Position

This role is primarily focused on providing expert Work Health and Safety (WHS) advice and support across the University to ensure legislative compliance, effective risk management, and a strong safety culture. Key responsibilities include advising managers and stakeholders on WHS matters, supporting incident reporting, investigation and regulatory notifications, developing and delivering WHS training, and assisting with the implementation of WHS policies and procedures. The position also plays a significant role in managing a wide range of workplace hazards, participating in inspections and risk assessments, supporting WHS committees, and building strong networks across the University to promote consultation, communication, and continuous improvement in workplace safety.

The Person

Qualifications and Experience: Recognised tertiary qualifications in Work Health and Safety, Occupational Health, Risk Management, Human Factors, or a related discipline, with demonstrated experience in providing WHS advice and support. An equivalent combination of relevant experience, professional development, and training will also be considered.

Technical Knowledge and Advisory Skills: Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary WHS legislation, principles, and best practices, with the ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, and risk management frameworks across a diverse range of workplace environments. Experience providing practical, solutions-focused advice to stakeholders is highly desirable.

Planning and Collaboration: Well-developed organisational and time management skills, with a proven ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality outcomes. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively, building effective relationships and influencing positive WHS outcomes across a range of stakeholders.

Stakeholder Engagement and Communication: Excellent interpersonal, consultation, and communication skills, with the ability to engage, influence, and build productive relationships with workers, managers, committees, and other stakeholders to achieve positive WHS outcomes and foster a strong safety culture.

The College/Division

The Safety & Wellbeing team sits within the People and Culture Division and provides specialist WHS services across the University. This position will primarily support the College of Systems and Society (CSS), partnering with academic and professional staff to provide expert WHS advice, support risk management activities, and contribute to the delivery of a safe, healthy, and compliant work environment.
