Position overview
A Snow Postdoctoral Research Fellow position is available to join the Cancer Immunology and Epigenetics Laboratory (www.burrlab.com), a Snow Medical laboratory at the Australian National University. Snow Medical’s vision is to create the next generation of exceptional, visionary biomedical research. Labs funded by Snow Medical are provided long-term, stable funding to build exceptional, world-leading multidisciplinary research programs and teams.
As a Snow Postdoctoral Researcher, you will be part of an exceptional research team in a Snow Medical Lab based at a leading Australian biomedical research institute (www.snowmedical.org.au/about/overview). You will be part of a unique network and will have the opportunity to lead significant projects and develop new skills in a supportive environment, with a strong emphasis on scientific excellence and impactful questions.
Snow Postdoctoral Researchers will receive a competitive salary/package and investment into their leadership and professional development. The program will support career development through mentoring and leadership training and provide networking opportunities. Snow Postdoctoral Researchers will also be eligible and encouraged to participate in short-term placements in other Snow Fellow laboratories to gain expertise in new techniques, bring additional skills to the host laboratory or institution, and broaden their network.
The Cancer Immunology and Epigenetics laboratory (www.burrlab.com) focuses on uncovering the key molecular processes by which cancer cells evade T cell mediated immunity, often by exploiting physiological mechanisms that maintain immune tolerance to self-antigens. We use a range of CRISPR genetic screening approaches in conjunction with genomic and proteomic technologies to identify and characterise these immune evasion mechanisms, with the aim of developing new immune-based cancer treatments. Research in the Burr lab encompasses ambitious fundamental and translational research projects spanning cancer cell biology, epigenetics and immunology. The successful candidate will join a dynamic and multidisciplinary team of scientists and clinicians working in a supportive and collaborative environment, with access to cutting-edge technologies, expertise and facilities. The postdoctoral fellow will lead their own research project within the broad research goals of the lab and will have the opportunity to supervise students and junior research staff and contribute to national and international collaborative research projects.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a PhD and strong research background in one or more of: molecular biology, immunology, chromatin biology, biochemistry, cancer biology, CRISPR-Cas9 systems, bioinformatics or computational biology. The successful candidate will have a strong drive to pursue a career in research, excellent interpersonal skills, technical ability, an outstanding academic track record and a demonstrated ability to lead projects to completion.
