Deliver Enterprise Platform Transformation at a World-Class University
At the Australian National University (ANU), we're transforming the digital experience for our students, researchers, and staff through the delivery of our Digital Plan — a 10-year roadmap for world-class technology capability.
We're seeking a Senior Systems Administrator (Fixed Term) to play a key role in a major technology uplift initiative focused on modernising and consolidating distributed infrastructure services into the University's enterprise platforms.
This is an opportunity to work on a high-impact program of work that will improve security, supportability, resilience, and operational consistency across the University while helping schools and colleges transition to modern enterprise-managed services.
You'll operate as a trusted senior practitioner within cross-functional squads, providing technical expertise, guidance, and hands-on delivery across Windows-based infrastructure, automation, and platform migration activities.
About the Role
In this role, you will support the planning, migration, implementation, and ongoing improvement of enterprise infrastructure services, with a particular focus on Windows-based platforms and services.
Working under the direction of a Systems Lead, you will partner closely with technical teams, business stakeholders, colleges, and service divisions to assess existing environments, develop migration approaches, and deliver sustainable enterprise solutions aligned with University standards.
This role is ideal for an experienced systems administrator who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, working directly with stakeholders, and delivering meaningful organisational change through technology.
Key Focus Areas
Provide senior technical leadership in supporting, upgrading, migrating, and managing enterprise Windows platforms and services. Assess and improve infrastructure to meet enterprise standards, security requirements, and support models, while leading the transition of locally managed systems into enterprise-supported environments. Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver technology outcomes, resolve complex technical issues, develop high-quality documentation, and contribute to service improvement, standardisation, and operational maturity initiatives.
