Position Overview

ANU is unique among Australian universities. ANU Advancement builds meaningful relationships with alumni, donors and the wider community, driving the philanthropic support that brings our university's vision to life. Our Senior Philanthropy Officers connect ANU with people and organisations who share our conviction in the power of research and education to remake our world for the better.

We want every donation to have an impact, and we love to connect passionate donors with opportunities to make a difference– whether that’s through tackling climate change, creating Indigenous scholarships, or driving life-changing innovations in medical research. Together, we’re growing a culture of philanthropy, and working towards a better future.

About the role

Our Senior Philanthropy Officers collaborate with generous supporters and talented colleagues to secure donations for an exciting range of ANU priority projects.

This Leadership Giving role is a fantastic growth opportunity for anyone seeking to develop a career in major gift fundraising. Over time, you will help grow our supporter base and deepen the loyalty of people in our community who have the capacity to make a difference.

We seek intellectually curious individuals who work quickly, communicate clearly, and excel at building strong relationships. Our ideal candidate is an adaptable communicator—equally confident engaging donors from all walks of life, briefing senior staff, and collaborating with subject matter experts. You will bring energy, persistence, and a sense of adventure to getting things done in a complex and dynamic environment.

We are driven by ambitious KPIs and a clear vision for growth. We support our team to succeed, celebrate their wins, and help them plan for future career progression. We cherish our friendly, supportive and resilient team culture.

You may be new to fundraising but have worked in business development, sales, strategic communications, arts management, or the non-profit sector. Diverse candidates are welcome. Your most important quality will be the commitment and capability to deliver an outstanding level of service to our donors and to ANU.
