Classification: ANU Officer 5/6 (Research)
Salary package: $83,351 - $90,926 per annum plus 17% superannuation
Term: Full time, Fixed Term (up to 10 months)
The Position
This is a key role in a friendly, motivated team evaluating novel bushfire detection technologies. The recruit will primarily assist desktop duties, although occasional field work may be necessary. The position will be responsible for the management, compilation, processing and analyses of field and remote sensing data and preparation of figures. They will also assist in literature reviews and the preparation of manuscripts and presentations. Occasional field work for data collection and outreach activities may also be required.
The Person
We are looking for a proactive and organised person with research experience and excellent communications skills. The successful candidate will have experience processing and analysing spatial, remote sensing or environmental data using software such as Python, R and ArcGIS. Strong preference will be given to candidates with experience in bushfire science or other related fields such as environmental sciences, climate science, earth sciences or earth observation. They will have demonstrated self-organisation and excellent written and verbal communication skills, such as the completion of an Honours, Master or other undergraduate research thesis. Fieldwork or other relevant outdoor experience will be considered desirable.
