The Inclusive and Respectful Communities team is part of the University Experience portfolio at ANU. We support the broader community to implement key university-wide strategies such as the Sexual Violence Prevention Strategy, Gender Equity Strategy, the Anti-Racism Taskforce Recommendations, and the Disability Action Plan.  

Our team is dedicated to fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all members of the university community. We focus on the prevention of harmful behaviours such as sexual harassment and sexual assault, and promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility. Through comprehensive training programs, community engagement, specialist consultation, capacity building, and evidence-based policy development, the team drives positive cultural change and ensures that every individual at ANU feels valued and respected. 

About the role
The Inclusive and Respectful Communities team seeks an enthusiastic and motivated Project Officer to collaborate with a team of dedicated practitioners to support diverse communities and minimise harmful behaviours on campus.  

Use your expertise to build community engagement and support our efforts in developing impactful workshops, events and materials to enable cultural change and effectively address the drivers of sexual assault and sexual harassment and other harmful behaviours.  

Key duties include:  

  • Support the implementation of Inclusive and Respectful Communities activities including, the development of education and information materials, presenting workshops and organising events. 
  • Oversee the development and coordination of engagement initiatives that seek to support student voice, particularly in the prevention of sexual violence and other harmful behaviours at ANU. 
  • Oversee other community engagement initiatives, including the LGBTIQA+ Ally Network, anti-racism and peer-led initiatives that support the objectives of the team.
