Salary package: $87,135 – $109,369 per annum plus 17% superannuation

Position overview
Based in the nation’s capital, the ANU is one of the world’s foremost research universities. The ANU College of Asia & the Pacific—within which CIW operates—has a long-standing reputation for outstanding research expertise and global policy impact, hosting the largest collection of expertise on the Asia Pacific in the English-speaking world. For over 70 years, ANU Sinologists have pioneered new fields in China studies and led the world in understanding Chinese societies. China expertise at ANU is housed in several academic departments across the College and elsewhere in the University, and is brought together by the CIW, which reflects the University’s and the Australian government’s commitment to deepening Australia’s understanding of and engagement with China.
Two Postdoctoral Fellowships are available. The successful candidates will be engaged in cutting-edge research on contemporary Chinese politics, public administration, economy and/or society. Experience conducting field research In China is highly desirable. Applicants must have obtained a doctorate in a relevant field within the past five years.
The Postdoctoral Fellows will be members of CIW, which is the hub for China Studies at ANU.
The successful candidates will be expected to contribute to teaching programs during their tenure. This includes, but is not limited to, CIW’s executive education courses and in-country study programs. They may also be expected to assist with editing work on The China Journal, a world-leading academic journal.
The successful candidates will have access to funding for conference travel and research support. They will also have opportunities to access national and international networks of scholars through the regular programs of conferences, seminars and visits to the ANU, as a means of a broader contribution to public engagement.
