The Coral Bell School of Asia Pacific Affairs (Bell School) is a world-leading centre for research, education, and policy analysis on international and Asia Pacific politics, security, diplomacy, and strategic affairs. The School comprises a number of vibrant, interdisciplinary, intellectual communities: the Department of International Relations, the Strategic and Defence Studies Centre, the Department of Political and Social Change, and the Department of Pacific Affairs.

The ANU Myanmar Research Centre (MRC) serves as the University’s academic hub for Myanmar research and engagement activities.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a one-year Postdoctoral Fellow to contribute to a project on "Advancing Research and Dialogue on Political, Social and Economic Conditions in Myanmar".

The Postdoctoral Fellow will report to the Director of the MRC and work collaboratively with colleagues across CAP and ANU.

In this role you will conduct independent research of relevance to the Project, producing or contributing to the production of conference/seminar papers and academic publications, as well as occasional online output for a non-academic audience.  You will also participate in the ANU Myanmar Update conference and other MRC seminars and events.

The position is funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), Australian Government. In this role you will be expected to engage actively with DFAT and other external stakeholders.

Our Ideal Candidate

Our ideal candidate will be a Myanmar national who has completed a PhD within the last five years on the political, social or economic conditions of present-day Myanmar, in any discipline. Applicants who have not previously held a postdoctoral position will be preferred.
