The Position

This is a key role in a highly motivated, multidisciplinary team working to improve our understanding of transient gravity signals generated by earthquakes and tsunamis (Prompt Elasto-gravity Signals or PEGS), and how to exploit them for earthquake and tsunami early warning. The role will be in the Geophysics Area of the Research School of Earth Sciences (RSES), and will undertake the numerical modelling of elasto-gravity signals generated by earthquakes and tsunami. The RSES team will work in tandem with a team of physicists from the University's Centre for Gravitational Astrophysics working on the development of advanced sensors for low-frequency gravitational force signals.

The successful candidate is guaranteed funding for 2 years, and will be a member of the Geophysics Area of the Research School of Earth Sciences (RSES). RSES is Australia’s leading academic research institution for Earth and Marine Sciences, and ranked 11th in the world for Earth and Marine Sciences (QS World University Rankings by Subject 2023).
