The Position

Applications are invited from suitably qualified early career researchers to work in the global seismology group of Professor Hrvoje Tkalcic on the Earth’s deep interior. In this role, you will conduct an original and innovative study of the Earth’s deep interior using seismic and correlation wavefields to elucidate the core and its boundaries. You will experience working in a research team involving close collaboration and work with PhD students.  If the funding gets extended, the position extends accordingly.

The Postdoctoral Fellow will be a member of the Geophysics Area of the Research School of Earth Sciences (RSES). RSES is Australia’s leading academic research institution for Earth and Marine Sciences, and ranked 11th in the world for Earth and Marine Sciences (QS World University Rankings by Subject 2023). The Person

To excel in this role, you will have a strong track record of research in global seismology, working on the Earth’s core and lowermost mantle and the ability to conduct innovative research. You will have waveform data processing, programming skills, and forward and inverse modelling expertise. Your ability to lead by example, coupled with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, will enable you to foster respectful and productive working relationships with staff, students and colleagues at all levels within RSES in line with the RSES Culture Statement.
