The Position
This is a key role in a friendly, motivated team providing manufacturing and mechanical technical support within the ANU Research School of Physics mechanical workshop.
With no two days being the same, this role is integral to the delivery/support of the ANU’s OreAI Program lead by Professor Mark Knackstedt. Design and manufacture of bespoke scientific equipment is a key deliverable of this program. The Machinist/ Mechanical Technician will primarily support this by manufacturing, assembling and installing precision mechanical parts and assemblies, and by advising on mechanical design aspects, materials selection and manufacturing processes.
The Person
We are looking for a qualified mechanical tradesperson with experience producing high-quality high-precision parts using CAD software and CNC equipment. The ideal candidate will have experience working with prototype, research and development, or scientific parts and assemblies. We are looking for someone who likes challenging problems and encourages team members and colleagues to develop effective solutions.
