The Area

Located within the Web and Digital Services team in the International and Future Students (IFS) Division of the Education Portfolio, this role is a senior leadership position responsible for shaping and delivering high-quality, scalable and user-centred digital web solutions that advance the University’s strategic objectives.

Reporting to the Associate Director, Marketing, the Senior Manager is the principal advisor on web and digital marketing services and leads a multidisciplinary team delivering complex, public-facing digital solutions.

What you will do

As Senior Manager, Web and Digital Services, you will:

  • Lead the design, development and continuous improvement of ANU’s web and digital services supporting international and future student engagement.
  • Provide strategic, authoritative advice on web architecture, digital platforms, UX/UI standards and digital marketing delivery.
  • Manage complex digital improvement initiatives, ensuring solutions are robust, scalable, user-centred and aligned with University strategy.
  • Lead, coach and develop a high-performing team of digital professionals, fostering capability, innovation and accountability.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, Colleges, central divisions and external suppliers to deliver integrated digital outcomes.
  • Ensure effective governance, budget management, risk mitigation and performance reporting across web and digital services.
  • Contribute to intellectual leadership across the IFS Division through insights, research, standards and best-practice digital frameworks.

What you will bring

You will demonstrate:

  • Extensive experience in web and digital services leadership, supported by relevant postgraduate qualifications or equivalent experience.
  • Proven ability to plan, prioritise and deliver complex digital initiatives, including scope, budget, risk and schedule management.
  • Strong technical expertise in website development, with full-stack experience using PHP/CSS/JavaScript/MySQL and version control systems (e.g. Git, Subversion), on an enterprise scale.
  • Demonstrated experience responsibly applying AI-enabled tools and automation to enhance digital services, analytics and content delivery, with a strong understanding of governance, risk, data stewardship, accessibility and ethical considerations in a university environment.
  • Demonstrated people leadership capability, including mentoring, performance management, workforce planning and team development in a diverse environment.
  • Highly developed analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills, with sound judgement in strategic decision-making.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels.
  • A strong commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, work health and safety, and ethical practice in a university context.
