Salary package: $138,182 - $144,783 per annum plus 17% superannuation

This position is continuing (contingent funded). The funding that supports this project has an expected end date of 31 December 2028.

The Position

The Manager, Strategic Projects will be responsible for developing and delivering a portfolio of space mission opportunities. The position provides high-level support, management and coordination of the ANU Institute for Space (InSpace) activities, including research translation and business development, pursuing new funding opportunities, program development, program management and performance, and building strategic relationships with key stakeholders. The Manager, Strategic Projects will support the delivery of InSpace’s ambitious target for revenue generation via the creation of the InSpace flagship missions and other major strategic initiatives such as Cooperative Research Centres.

The Person

The ideal candidate will be a highly skilled, action-oriented leader with postgraduate qualifications in space related research or expertise in a space related research environment and demonstrated experience in business development and engagement in an R&D or technical innovation environment across industry, the start-up community, academia (research) and government. The successful candidate will be an outstanding communicator, demonstrating a high-level of analytical and decision-making skills, agility and the ability to build strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Please note that this role may require the occupant to travel domestically and internationally.

The School/Department

The ANU Institute for Space (InSpace) is a multi-disciplinary innovation institute and front door to ANU space capability with the aim to solve society’s greatest challenges. ANU InSpace works with Academia, Industry, Government, and Community partners to catalyse space research and uplift space capabilities at ANU. We engage with the global space industry, bringing cross-disciplinary capability together to solve national challenges and enable ANU and Australia to contribute to global initiatives such as climate and water resilience, remote healthcare access, and regional security.

The College/Division

ANU InSpace is within the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) (DVCRI) Portfolio, which is responsible for the strategic development, leadership and management of research activities at the ANU. The DVCRI Portfolio oversees the development of research strategies, capabilities, policies, research support services and systems to achieve the University's strategic goals in research and innovation.
