Position overview

Information Technology Services (ITS) provides corporate IT services to ANU staff, students and visitors in support of achieving excellence in research, teaching and public policy. These services include network, communications, computing platforms, data storage, desktop and mobile access, enterprise systems, student learning environments, and IT security. The work of ITS is coordinated with services provided within and by University Colleges and other Service Divisions to form a cohesive, University-wide information services infrastructure.

This role is a learning and teaching project leadership role as part of the ANU Digital Plan, working across a team providing leadership and expertise to ensure the University’s programs achieve the highest standards and current best practice in digital learning and assessment.

The Manager, Digital Learning Initiatives works as part of a Digital Learning team to lead key IT projects and initiatives and business improvement processes that directly contribute towards achieving the University’s strategic objectives within the Digital Student Experience Stream. Currently the key deliverable is the delivery of Canvas as the University's Learning Management System.

Key Duties

  • Deliver key projects and/or work packages from inception through to completion by applying agile methodologies.
  • Provide leadership and management to create an engaged and cohesive team that operates according to ITS values and in support of ANU’s Digital Plan and Learning & Teaching Strategy goals.
  • Maintain knowledge and understanding of contemporary and relevant sector-wide approaches and developments in Digital Learning and share with other members of the team.
  • Develop and deliver key artefacts such as plans, risk and issue registers, stakeholder engagement and communication plans and resource management plans.

About You

We welcome applications from individuals who possess the following attributes:

  • Graduate qualifications in project management, education, or information technology, or equivalent environment or an equivalent combination of experience and education/training. As a guide, experience in this context is likely to be five years.
  • Extensive experience in managing educational technology projects and achieving high quality outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating a variety of staff, projects, initiatives, and activities whilst maintaining high quality documentation, producing reports on outcomes, and management artefacts.
  • Demonstrated high level of interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills, both written and oral, including demonstrated ability to liaise effectively with internal and external key stakeholders.
