Salary package: $112,693 - $120,506 per annum plus 17% superannuation
Terms: Full-time, Continuing (Contingent Funded), funded for 36 months

The Position

This is a key role for an experienced Life Science Microscopist to manage the Life Science Electron Microscopy labs at the Centre for Advanced Microscopy. The successful candidate will support world class research and industry projects on state-of-the-art equipment for all life science and soft matter users of the facility and will train users in the operation of various sample preparation and imaging techniques available across a range of transmission and scanning electron microscopes.

The Person

The Centre for Advanced Microscopy (CAM) is looking for an enthusiastic microscopist with a background in life sciences and extensive experience in the use of a variety of advanced electron microscopy imaging and sample preparation techniques (e.g. cryo SEM, Cryo electron tomography and/or SPA). The successful candidate will provide advice and support to academic and professional staff and students from a wide range of disciplines across the ANU as well as external clients, including industry clients. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining the life science EM suite of instruments and sample preparation labs, performing and coordinating user training, developing new methods as well as collaborate with researchers in various areas. The successful candidate is a strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills and the capacity to quickly develop productive, professional relationships with colleagues and clients. They like challenging problems and will work with their team members and colleagues to workshop effective solutions. Highly developed organisational skills and effective self-management are key.
