Classification: Academic Level B to Level C
Salary package: Level B: $107,475 - $121,857; Level C: $129,049 - $143,433 per annum plus 17% superannuation
Terms: Full time, Continuing

Position Overview:

The School of Politics and International Relations (SPIR) and the Crawford School of Public Policy at the Australian National University are seeking to make a new continuing academic appointment at level B-C (Lecturer, Senior Lecturer). This position represents a significant future investment in order to build on existing strengths in the Schools. 

The School of Politics and International Relations (SPIR) is a dynamic community of scholars engaged in research on all major sub-fields of the discipline. The School has a long history of excellence in research, in undergraduate education and in postgraduate supervision. The Crawford School of Public Policy is one of four Schools within the College of Asia and the Pacific (CAP) and one of the world’s leading public policy schools. The Crawford School is the University's focal point for contributing to public policy research, education and policy impact. Its graduate programs have trained many of the region’s leaders, and its research has impacted on policy making. Public policy scholarship at Crawford School is characterized by high quality, policy-relevant research across a range of disciplines. The Policy and Governance (PoGo) program at the Crawford School conducts research on pressing policy, institutional and development challenges in Australia and the Asia Pacific region. Program staff come from diverse disciplinary backgrounds and employ in their research a rich variety of theoretical perspectives and methodological approaches. There is a strong connection between research and teaching in the program. POGO offers a redesigned and relaunched Master of Public Administration (MPA), Master of Public Policy (MPP) and three Graduate Certificates: GC Public Policy, GC Public Management and GC Policy Design and Analysis.

We welcome applications from candidates with expertise in the areas of Public Policy and/or Public Management, with a focus in the Asia-Pacific region (including Australia). Successful candidates will have outstanding records of demonstrated excellence in research, publications and education in the fields of public policy and public management. As well as undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, the appointee will be expected to have an active research agenda, supervise Honours and PhD students and work collegially with other members of the Schools.

The standard teaching load is three courses per year, plus work with honours and graduate students. Courses likely to be taught by the successful applicant include POLS2002 Public Policy Theory and Practice (SPIR, undergraduate) and POOG8062 Public Sector Management (PoGo, postgraduate).

This position is based in Canberra.
