About Us
The ANU College of Asia & the Pacific (CAP) leads intellectual engagement with the Asia-Pacific region through research, teaching and contributions to public debate, and seeks to set the international standard for scholarship concerning the region. The College hosts the largest number of regional experts and specialist academic programs in the English-speaking world, and plays a vital role in informing public policy and Australia's intellectual engagement with the societies, cultures and economies of Asia and the Pacific.

CAP is the centre of excellence for understanding human development and organisation in Asia and the Pacific, and addressing the cultural, economic, environmental, political and societal dimensions of global challenges.

Follow the College of Asia and the Pacific on social media: LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook

The College comprises four Schools: Coral Bell School of Asia Pacific Affairs, Crawford School of Public Policy, School of Culture, History and Language, and School of Regulation and Global Governance, and hosts ten Regional/Country Institutes.

Within the framework of the newly established ANU Philippines Institute, the Philippines Project aspires to emerge as a prominent global hub for conducting research, facilitating policy dialogues, and providing graduate-level training specifically focused on the Philippines' economy and society. The core mission of the Philippines Project Institute encompasses monitoring and analyzing economic developments within the Philippines, conveying insights to both the Australian and Philippine governments, businesses, and the broader community, and fostering a culture of rigorous research on the Philippines' governance landscape and development. In line with its overarching goal of nurturing deeper bilateral relations between Australia and the Philippines, characterized by strengthened institutional connections and robust people-to-people interactions, the Philippines Institute has outlined key focus areas for the medium term. These areas are poised to shape the cooperative landscape and support policymaking and reform efforts in the Philippines. The priority research areas include:
• strategic studies and foreign policy;
• economic recovery;
• gender, women’s empowerment and peace;
• the ongoing pursuit of peace, development and political stability in Mindanao;
• other threats to stability such as climate change, food insecurity and the energy crisis;
• rule of law, human rights and judicial governance; and
• governance, politics and political communications.

The Opportunity
We are in search of an accomplished early/mid career academic researcher with a well-established research profile, who is enthusiastic about promoting sustained engagement and outreach with both government entities and the wider public in Australia and the Philippines. A closely connected second essential objective involves overseeing and co-editing of the volume to be created from conference presentations.

The successful candidate will be placed in one of the four Schools in CAP, depending on the most appropriate academic fit for their expertise, as well as being a member of the ANU Philippines Institute.

About the position
The Fellow will be a key member of the ANU Philippines Institute leadership team. The Fellow will report to the Director of the ANU Philippines Institute and will work with colleagues within the ANU Philippines Project, Department, School, College and wider University community to deliver strategic outcomes in research and public engagement.
