The Position

Climate, energy and disaster risk are crucial, growing and interconnected issues for Australia and the world. The ANU Institute for Climate, Energy & Disaster Solutions is seeking an Events and Communications Officer who will be an integral part of the core Institute team supporting 500+ ANU researchers.

The position will play a key role in supporting the events and communications outputs essential to the success of the Institute. The successful applicant will support the development, promotion and execution of ICEDS events, across in-person, online and hybrid formats. Reporting to the ICEDS Institute Manager, the position will also support development of content for the ICEDS website and social media profiles and will contribute to a range of outreach activities across the Institute.

 

The Person

We are looking for someone with demonstrated relevant experience in events, communications, media, content management, or any combination of these. The opportunity will be offered at full-time or part-time (0.8 FTE). Knowledge / experience working on climate change, energy or disaster-risk issues and relevant tertiary qualifications will be highly regarded. You will be a highly organised individual with strong communication skills and an interest in developing engaging content.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation) is responsible for the strategic development, leadership and management of research activities at the Australian National University. The DVCRI is focused on building the University’s research profile, performance and impact, ensuring alignment with the needs of strategic partners, end-users and the broader community. 

Research Infrastructure and Entities (RIE) is a small and agile team within the Research and Innovation Portfolio at ANU. We support university-scale cross-disciplinary research entities and research infrastructure platforms by providing strategic advice and project management support across investment, governance, and policy development. RIE contributes to the University's mission to address global challenges by enabling ambitious, collaborative research entities and cutting-edge research infrastructure. The successful candidate will work closely with Dr Esmé Shirlow (ANU) and Dr Florian Grisel (CNRS), and will be embedded in an international and interdisciplinary research team. The Fellow will also engage with a broad network of academic and professional stakeholders, including international lawyers, government officials, and practitioners involved in the work of the ICJ.
