The Australian National University (ANU) is seeking to appoint an outstanding Director, John Curtin School of Medical Research, based in the ANU College of Science and Medicine.
The John Curtin School of Medical Research was established in 1948 as a founding school of the Australian National University. With a legacy of three Nobel Laureates and numerous other prestigious international and national awards, the School undertakes research into diseases that include cancer, infectious diseases and neurological conditions, drawing on deep expertise in genomics, cancer biology, immunology, and neuroscience.
Reporting to the Dean of the ANU College of Science and Medicine, the School Director provides strategic leadership to drive the School’s overall performance. This includes promoting excellence and innovation in research and education, and cultivating a supportive, inclusive, and collegial environment for staff and students. The Director is responsible for enabling academic staff to deliver high-quality research, teaching, policy, and practice outcomes aligned with the University’s strategic priorities. Additionally, the Director oversees the management of the School, including academic, financial, and staffing operations.
The Director is the lead advocate for the School and works collegially with other senior staff of the university to achieve the strategic aims of the College and the University.
