Position overview

The Campus Environment Division enables academic excellence at The Australian National University through integrated and innovative facilities and project delivery. Within the Asset & Maintenance Team, the Contract Supervisor plays a key role in overseeing contracted maintenance services across the University.

Reporting to the Contract Manager, you will coordinate day-to-day contractor activities, monitor performance against KPIs, and ensure compliance with safety and legislative requirements. This role involves planning schedules, resolving escalated service issues, conducting audits, and supporting procurement processes. You will also manage documentation, track budgets, and identify opportunities for service improvements.

The Person

To be successful in the role the candidate must be organised and have a great eye for detail. They must have technical skills or a detailed knowledge of mechanical services including HVAC. Extensive administrative experience is desirable such as scheduling, auditing and contract management experience is also preferred.

  • Trade qualifications (or demonstrated extensive mechanical trade experience)
  • Strong understanding of building maintenance services
  • Proven ability to supervise contractors and manage stakeholder relationships
  • Experience in data analysis, reporting, and budget management
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail

Experience in higher education or similarly complex environments will be highly regarded.

The Team

The Asset and Maintenance team has the responsibility for the delivery of Contract management activities at the ANU.  This encompasses the management and delivery of all statutory, preventative and corrective maintenance, asset management initiatives and capital renewal programs.

The Mechanical Services Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that all building mechanical systems, equipment, and facilities operate at peak efficiency. They Mechanical Services Supervisor will need to be able to forecast workloads and assigned tasks accordingly to make sure deadlines are met with accuracy, resolve issues that arise in order to keep both building maintenance activities running smoothly or take care of any repairs needed.
