AV Preservation Project Officer

Classification: ANU Officer 6/7 (Administration)
Salary package: $86,960 - $100,098 per annum plus 17% superannuation
Term: Full-Time, Fixed Term (up to 24 months)

• Work with colleagues across the division to digitise library and archive collections, including Audio Visual materials

Position overview

The Scholarly Information Services (SIS) Division supports the university through the ANU Libraries, Archives & Records Management, ANU Press, Digital Scholarship and Data governance activities. We are at the heart of learning and research at the university, connecting the ANU community to knowledge and providing access to ANU research to the world.

The position offers an exciting challenge to those interested in digitisation of library and archive collections, especially Audio Visual Materials, to open access to our treasures and support research around the world. The AV Preservation Project Officer, with support from the digitisation team within Digital Scholarship is primarily responsible:

• Managing the AV Preservation Project to completion by:
• Managing outsourcing to selected vendor/s, including generating and compiling batch/shipment lists, seeking progress updates, checking items and batch lists on return and quality checking digitised files
• Creating appropriate metadata to facilitate discovery of digitised material in the repository in consultation with ANU Library and Archives staff.
• Supporting other digitisation projects to increase digital access to ANU Library and Archive collections

The digitisation program aims to:

• Support research and education at the ANU by meeting the increasing demand for online access to material from researchers, teaching staff and students,
• Protect unique and rare research material from overuse by making digital copies available,
• Create awareness of and increase access to the university’s nationally and internationally significant collections.
