This position is continuing (contingent funded). The funding that supports this project has an expected end date of 31 December 2026.

The Position

Rural Administration Officer Young Campus

The position forms part of the Rural Clinical School team that delivers the Rural Stream program and  student placements in Bega, Cooma, Gundagai, Young, Moruya, Eurobodalla and Goulburn. The position will maintain a close working relationship with students, academic and professional staffing within the School, the College and the wider University.

The Person

The Rural Administration Officer works under the general direction of the Rural Education Coordinator and is responsible for local coordination of the rural program to students on placement in general practices and health facilities in their rural location.  This position supports local academic staff and liaises with a number of stakeholders in the rural program including the local general Rural Clinical School community, practitioners, specialists, community health centres, and teaching staff. 

The School/Department

The Rural Clinical School (RCS) within the ANU School of Medicine and Psychology is an established program funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health and Aged Care under the Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training (RHMT) Program. The RHMT Program aims to improve the health and wellbeing of Australians living in rural and remote areas by providing effective rural training experiences for medical students. The ANU School of Medicine and Psychology educates and develops medical graduates who practise medicine with compassion, conscience and professional excellence and with a knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and culture. The School partners with a number of healthcare organisations to deliver clinical teaching and training throughout the ACT, the south eastern region of NSW and remote NT. The School of Medicine and Psychology is committed to extending the boundaries of medical knowledge and improving the health system through research, and to providing students with research led educational experience. Research is conducted over a range of disciplines, spanning basic science, clinical medicine and implementation into policy and practice. Collaborations extend beyond ANU medical and health sciences, to other universities, governments and communities in the region as well as industry bodies, attracting national and international researchers and higher degree research candidates.

The College/Division

The ANU College of Science and Medicine encompasses the following disciplines: Astronomy and Astrophysics, Biology, Chemistry, Earth Sciences, Physics, Medicine and Psychology, and Medical Research. It is also home to various cross-disciplinary and specialist institutes and centres. Staff and students within the ANU College of Science and Medicine conduct research and deliver research-led education programs spanning the entire breadth of the sciences, supported by extensive international networks and world-class facilities.
