Position overview
ANU has an international reputation for research and education relevant to the health and well-being of the population of Australia, as well as that of the developing world. This is achieved through discovery research, applied research in health service settings, research-led teaching in health and medical sciences, and the translation of research findings into practice and policy. The ANU College of Health and Medicine comprises the Research School of Psychology, the ANU Medical School, the John Curtin School of Medical Research and the National Center for Epidemiology and Population Health. These schools work together to deliver world-class research and education across the spectrum of medicine and health-related fields, working in partnership with the health sector at local, national and international levels.
The Australian Phenomics Facility (APF) provides research services to schools and departments across the ANU College of Health and Medicine. The Section Coordinator (Training) supports biomedical research activities by developing and delivering training in animal handling, welfare management and technical procedures to both investigators and animal care staff. This position works with the Animal Services Management team to ensure that the highest standards of animal welfare and research are upheld and that service outcomes are met against the Client Service Charter, within the legislative framework and within budget. The position will provide leadership and direction for a team of animal technicians involved in delivering high standard animal husbandry services within the Facility. Participation in laboratory and management meetings, developing links with internal and external facility users, suppliers and other animal facilities is required.
