The ANU College of Asia and the Pacific (CAP) leads intellectual engagement in Asia and the Pacific through research, teaching and contributions to public debate, and seeks to set the international standard for scholarship concerning the region. RegNet is a dynamic community of scholars from different disciplines united by our interest in regulation and governance. For the last 20 years, the School has focused on improving the governance of major social, environmental and health issues by developing new ways of understanding and responding to these complex problems. RegNet is known for its collegial and interdisciplinary approach to knowledge production and dissemination.
The Research Fellow will undertake independent and collaborative research related to the governance of health, technoscience and well-being. Working with RegNet’s Director, Professor Kathryn (Kate) Henne, the successful candidate will work on joint projects as well as their own independent scholarship. They will have opportunities to be an active member of RegNet’s Justice and Technoscience Lab and to collaborate with other university groups and initiatives that intersect with their interests.
Our Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is an early career scholar who wants to build a program of research on the governance of health, technoscience and well-being. Social scientists working in the following areas are particularly welcome to apply: gender and its intersections with class, disability, ethnicity, race and/or sexuality; science and technology studies; and/or sociology of health and the body. Given the nature of the role, they should be an independent researcher who embraces interdisciplinary perspectives and works well in small teams.
While this is a research-intensive role, all academic staff within the College are expected to undertake work in three areas of academic activity - education (teaching and learning), research and service (including outreach). The allocation of time to each area will reflect relative opportunities within the School and/or discipline, as well as individual appointment situations. This expectation applies regardless of the level of appointment, the type of appointment an academic holds, or the part of the University in which an academic may have begun their career at ANU.
