The ANU College of Science (COS) comprises: the Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics, the Research School of Biology, the Research School of Chemistry, the Research School of Earth Science, the Fenner School of Environment and Society, the Mathematical Sciences Institute, the Research School of Physics and Engineering, and the Centre for the Public Awareness of Science.  Staff and students within the ANU College of Science conduct research and delivers a research-led education program that encompasses the entire breadth of the sciences, supported by extensive international networks and by world-class facilities. The College has a strong tradition of research excellence that has fostered distinguished Nobel Laureates and Kyoto Prize winners and that trains scientific leaders in disciplines in which the ANU is consistently ranked in the top twenty in the world.

The purpose of this position is to develop and test new phylogenetic methods, by coding new methods into accessible software packages, particularly within the BEAST2 package

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated research assistant who can work both independently and as part of a collaborative team. Our ideal candidate would have relevant experience in coding bioinformatic and/or evolutionary analytical methods, ideally with specific experience with the BEAST2 package, plus demonstrated experience in coding in JAVA.

The successful Researcher will work in the Macroevolution and Macroecology Group at the Australian National University (macroevoeco.com) under the supervision of Professor Lindell Bromham (tempoandmode.com) and Dr Xia Hua to work on a project funded by the Australian Research Council (Evolving Rates: Foundations For The Next Generation Of Molecular Clocks)

This position is continuing contingent on external funding, the initial funding period is twelve (12) months with the possibility of extension. We are happy to consider flexible employment arrangements.
