The Australian National University (ANU) is seeking to appoint a Director, Business Engagement & Commercialisation for the Office of Business Engagement & Commercialisation within the Research and Innovation Portfolio.

The Director, Business Engagement & Commercialisation will be responsible for the planning and implementation of a new coherent business development capability model across ANU Colleges and central functions. The Director, Business Engagement & Commercialisation will provide expert input into University strategy for building growth in research and education outcomes by maximizing the impact of ANU research through knowledge exchange and commercialisation by developing strategic partnerships with business, industry and government organisations to achieve social and economic good. Leading the Office of Business Engagement & Commercialisation, the Director is responsible for the development, operationalisation and implementation of the strategy for the Office of Business Engagement & Commercialisation in a structured and targeted way that aligns with the University’s strategic aims and core activities of research and education, and affirms the University as a world leader in these areas.  

The successful candidate will have held a relevant commercialisation, knowledge exchange or business engagement role in Higher Education or related organisation. The successful candidate will have experience in high-level business development, partnerships, new ventures, fundraising from investors, businesses and government agencies. The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate experience in strategic thinking and leadership, finance management, performance management, team building and work scheduling. The successful candidate should have experience in implementing change plans and new organisational structures, be an inspirational leader who is able to lead the team and generate large revenue generating commercial agreements/projects.
