The ANU College of Science (CoS) comprises: the Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics, the Research School of Biology, the Research School of Chemistry, the Research School of Earth Science, the Fenner School of Environment and Society, the Mathematical Sciences Institute, the Research School of Physics and Engineering, the Centre for the Public Awareness of Science and the Centre for Entrepreneurial Agri-Technology (CEAT). The Australian Plant Phenomics Facility (APPF) is a national research collaboration facility with nodes at ANU, CSIRO and The University of Adelaide. The APPF ANU Node is located within the Division of Plant Sciences in the Research School of Biology and provides research services to publicly and privately funded researchers located internally and externally to the University.
As part of a new industrial collaboration with ANU, the Senior Technical Officer will establish technical procedures to grow and phenotype crop plants in controlled environments. Plant phenotyping methods will include 3D reconstruction of plant canopies and multispectral/hyperspectral imaging of plants grown in high precision, controlled environments.
This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate with a high level of technical expertise in plant physiology, ideally with horticulture or industrial experience. The project will leverage world-class plant growth facilities and cutting edge robotics and sensors to develop novel phenotyping techniques tailored to the industry.
Under broad supervision, the Senior Technical Officer will manage all plant-based aspects of the experiments and coordinate the phenotyping with the various teams.

This position is a continuing contingent funded position for an initial funding period of 12 months and may be extended pending confirmation of further funding.
