We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Researcher with a strong track record for a program on the high-pressure synthesis of materials. The goal of the project is to understand and exploit the properties of shear to create novel phases of carbon and other diamond-like materials. The project is funded by a Australian Research Council grant through its Discovery Program. The position will be based within the high-pressure physics group at the Research School of Physics and Engineering. The group has in-house facilities for high-pressure synthesis of materials and advanced characterization techniques. This is a joint project with the carbon modelling group at Curtin University in Western Australia.
