Position overview

The role of the Student Access & Success Officer (SASO) in the office of Access & Inclusion is to provide support, advice and referral to current students and prospective students from underrepresented and disadvantaged student groups which include disclosed disability, chronic medical conditions or mental health illness. The position requires knowledge of reasonable adjustments and supports in study to ensure students are not disadvantaged in their studies. The office of Access & Inclusion fosters an environment of team work and problem solving to support students across all ANU Colleges and areas of study.

The successful applicant should be able to work as a member of a hard working team of other SASO Officers supporting students from varied and diverse backgrounds including students with disability, elite athletes, under 18 international students, students that identify as LGBTIQ, carers and other under represented cohorts.

The role will include planning, implementation and coordination of a special project relating to the ANU Access and Participation Plan. The responsibilities will include co-ordination of the project, liaison with stakeholders, organisation of events associated with the project and monthly updates/reporting.

The successful applicant would have a working knowledge and experience of social justice including an understanding of issues of educational disadvantage. They would possess excellent written and communication skills with the ability to interact with a diverse range of stakeholders including students, parents, ANU professional and academic staff, government departments and medical/psychological practitioners.

Note: The successful applicant will be required to have an active Working With Vulnerable People (background check) registration.
