Position overview

ANU has an international reputation for research and education relevant to the health and well-being of the population of Australia, as well as that of the developing world. This is achieved through discovery research, applied research in health service settings, research-led teaching in health and medical sciences, and the translation of research findings into practice and policy. The ANU College of Health and Medicine comprises the Research School of Psychology, the ANU Medical School, the John Curtin School of Medical Research and the Research School of Population Health. These schools work together to deliver world-class research and education across the spectrum of medicine and health-related fields, working in partnership with the health sector at local, national and international levels.

The Rural Clinical School of the ANU Medical School is an established program funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health under the Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training Program.  The program aims to improve the health and well-being of rural and Indigenous communities within the South-East NSW region through the delivery of high quality education and training to medical students.  The RCS has established the South East NSW Training Hub tasked with increasing the number of medical graduates completing their training in rural areas. The Training Hub operates across the existing Rural Clinical School footprint covering Cooma, Bega and Batemans Bay/Moruya in the South, and Goulburn, Young and Cowra in the North.  Support provided by the Training Hub will enable both medical students and postgraduates to complete a significant part of their training in the local region, and assist them with their long term career planning.

The part-time Project Coordinator will be based in Queanbeyan, NSW, working alongside the Southern NSW Local Health District Medical Workforce Unit to support the Local Health District in the development of a junior doctor workforce.  To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate a high level of organisational and communication skills and have a sound knowledge of the health care system, in particular the training needs of junior doctors.
