This position is located within the ANU College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. Seismology and Mathematical Geophysics Group (http://rses.anu.edu.au/research/groups/seismology-mathematical-geophysics) at The Research School of Earth Sciences (http://rses.anu.edu.au) is seeking to appoint an Operations Manager at the Warramunga Seismic and Infrasound Research Station, 35km from Tennant Creek, Northern Territory.
The Research Station operates a 24-element seismic array and an 8-element infrasound array as part of the International Monitoring System for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organisation (CTBTO). Data is transmitted by satellite link to the International Data Centre in Vienna. Information about CTBTO can be found at: https://www.ctbto.org/
The Operations Manager is responsible for the operation and routine maintenance of the Warramunga Seismic and Infrasound Research Station, Tennant Creek, Northern Territory. Duties include the operation of the seismic and infrasound monitoring facilities as well as the servicing, troubleshooting, repair and modification of a wide range of scientific, power system and communication equipment. Knowledge of electronics, communication, power systems, PC systems, networks, 4WD license, management and excellent communications (written and oral) skills are essential.
Please note that due to the remote nature of the Warranunga Seismic and Infrasound Research Station, experience working in a remote location is a favourable attribute.
