The Academic Skills and Learning Centre’s role is to promote the development of students’ study and writing skills essential to their academic success. As experts in academic literacies, we assist ANU students at all levels to understand the academic conventions around persuasive, reasoned, and evidence-based communication, specific to their chosen fields or disciplines. Our group and one-to-one teaching, as well as the development of learning resources are informed by best practice, evidence-based research. Another fundamental aspect of our work as a central student support service is to promote our expertise when collaborating closely with academic and professional staff to embed skills support within the different colleges and disciplinary-specific courses.
We are seeking a Learning Adviser to join our innovative team of professional staff in providing teaching and learning activities and resources. In this position you will be developing and delivering group teaching, one-to-one consultations and contributing to online resourcing. Whilst you will work independently, this will involve collaborating closely with the ASLC team and with academic colleagues in the ANU Colleges. This position offers the opportunity for you to use your teaching expertise and your understanding of the higher education student experience, in a wide range of teaching environments. Working with our friendly and dedicated team you will use your well-developed communication and interpersonal skills to provide academic learning support to a diverse and engaged cohort of students at ANU. You will be provided the opportunity to lead and contribute to projects and research in the area of academic language and learning.
