Position OverviewThe University's Research Office is seeking applicants for the role of Research Development Coordinator or Senior Research Development Coordinator in the Office of Sponsored Research.

The principal functions of the role are to assist with the development of policies and business practices relating to grant funding. Applicants must be client-focused program managers experienced in liaison with Government agencies and other organisations.

The incumbent will be required to provide advice to senior officers on issues relating to research funding; establish and maintain effective liaison with external organisations; and develop and deliver professional development programs to the University's research community.

Your ability to provide high quality advice to research managers and applicants and your communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills will be your key to success in obtaining this position.

Role statementPURPOSE STATEMENT:
The Senior Research Development Coordinator provides vital support within the Office of Sponsored Research (SRDC) in the form of internal and external stakeholder management, provision of strategic advice, interpretation of funding contracts, analysis of funding outcomes and their impact in the research management environment.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITY AREAS:

Position Dimension & Relationships:
This position is responsible for providing interpretation, advice and information concerning funding agency opportunities and management of. The SRDC is responsible for the development, delivery and interpretation of policies, business processes, training programs and acts as a client management interface with external stakeholders on behalf of the ANU and liaisons directly with ANU internal stakeholders.

For ANUO6/7

Role Statement:

Under the broad direction of the Director of the Office of Sponsored Research:

1. Provide advice to College Research Managers and Administrators on interpretation of issues surrounding the requirements and management of funded contracts.
2. Establish, facilitate and maintain effective relationships with both external and internal stakeholders to ensure funding contract requirements are met and ANU policies and processes are followed.
3. Provide written responses and relevant documentation in a prompt and professional fashion to external stakeholders eg: Funding bodies, Universities etc
4. Prepare research management information, including research data reports and business process documentation.
5. Assist with analysis of reports, drafting of policy and processes in order to respond to the various needs of stakeholders.
6. Develop and deliver of professional development programs on project/research management and policy issues to the University’s research management and administrative community.
7. Negotiate and examine, on behalf of the University, centrally managed research contracts and agreements.
8. Undertake other duties consistent with the classification of the position.




For ANUO8

Role Statement:
Under the broad direction of the Director of the Office of Sponsored Research:

1. Program management of the Universitys internal and external funding opportunities portfolio, which includes: planning and coordinating the Universitys preparation and submission of centrally managed research funding application rounds (external and internal) and implementing project management processes, in collaboration with stakeholders, of these grants.

2. Develop and facilitate effective stakeholder relationship management and maintain on-going quality customer service with a variety of University stakeholders (such as Administrative divisions, Colleges, the University Executive etc), and external organisations (such as funding agencies, other universities, industry etc)

3. Provide strategic advice to stakeholders on the preparation of individual and institutional funding applications to external agencies and guidance to University Divisions, Colleges and other Research Office staff on issues relating to external funding. Strategic advice may also include drafting of policy and procedures documents, undertaking research and preparation of reports in the making of recommendations and advice.

4. Develop and facilitate professional development and training programs on funding, policy and research management issues to the Universitys research management and administrative community.

5. Preparation, analysis and presentation of research management information, including research performance data, tracking funding outcome trends and procedural documentation.

6. Provide high-level advice to senior officers on research issues including policy advice, procedural documentation and statistical analyses.

7. Negotiate and examine, on behalf of the University, complex centrally managed research contracts and agreements. Develop and review research contracts and agreements for use by the University.

8. Undertake other duties consistent with the classification of the position.

Selection Criteria:
A. Qualifications

1. Completion of degree with relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of extensive relevant experience and education/training.


B. Experience

1. Administrative experience in a university or comparable institution and a broad understanding of the higher education environment in Australia.

2. Experience in the interpretation and application of contractual requirements and the development of policies and business processes.

3. Experience in the preparation of correspondence and reports.

4. Application of project management skills.


C. Attributes

1. Demonstrated commitment to delivery of professional service and ability to effectively nurture internal and external relationships.

2. Demonstrated ability to show initiative, and be able to work in a small team environment

A. Qualifications
1. Progress towards postgraduate qualifications and relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of experience and education /training


B. Experience

1. High level of administrative, stakeholder and project management skills, including a demonstrated high level knowledge of standard office computer software, internet and database packages and the ability to adapt quickly to a changing IT environment.

2. High level analytical and policy skills.

3. Demonstrated experience in dealing with complex contracts, agreements and their business processes.


C. Attributes

1. Demonstrated liasion and negotiation skills and excellent oral and written communication skills, including a demonstrated capacity to provide high quality advice to stakeholders and to deliver professional training and development programs.
