Position OverviewThe School of Management, Marketing and International Business invites Expressions of Interest from qualified people interested in casual tutoring at undergraduate level for courses in Management, Marketing and International Business, commencing 1 March 2010. You should refer to http://cbe.anu.edu.au/courses/courselist.asp?school=MMIB for information on courses offered during 2010.

Your appointment as a casual sessional academic will be for a specified number of one or two hour tutorials per week over the teaching semester in specific undergraduate courses. For each contact hour, the rate of pay includes a clear expectation of a further two hours of work per week that captures preparation, student consultation, marking of assignments and exams and managing the administrative aspects of the subject. Grading work associated with final examinations is subject to a separate agreement.

Role statementKEY ACCOUNTABILITY AREAS:

Purpose Statement:

This position will assist the Course Co-ordinator and be responsible for a specified number of one or two hour tutorials per week over the teaching semester in specific undergraduate units.

Position Dimension & Relationships:

Under the direction of course convenors, casual tutors prepare and conduct tutorials, consult with students on a one-to-one basis and complete contemporaneous marking duties.

Role Statement
Under the direction of the Course Co-ordinator:

1. Carry out a specified number of one or two hour tutorials per week over the teaching semester in specific units, which will also include tutorial preparation and student consultation.
2. Provide assistance with marking and assessment of tutorial exercises, projects, assignments and tests.
3. Maintain tutorial lists during the semester recording attendances, submission of tutorial exercises and assignment marks etc.
4. Other duties consistent with the classification of the position.

A. Qualifications

1. Relevant undergraduate qualification and relevant professional experience, or postgraduate degree appropriate to the position.

B. Experience

1. Professional experience in the discipline area.
2. Demonstrated academic planning and administrative skills.

1. Demonstrated ability to work to strict deadlines, independently and within a team.
2. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds.
